2027 Sea-Doo Spark X: new hull, bigger engine, 110hp, higher top speed

Sea-Doo has made a power play with its most affordable model line, introducing a bigger engine, more horsepower, a new hull, and a higher top speed to its fun-size Spark series. Here’s everything you need to know.

The fun-size Sea-Doo Spark range has been given a welcome horsepower boost with five new 110hp variants – up from the previous peak of 90hp – which promise faster acceleration and a higher top speed.

At its annual global conference in Orlando, Florida USA overnight, Sea-Doo unveiled significant upgrades to its most affordable and most expensive model lines.

While the introduction of a 350hp supercharged model – bearing the name of the late Formula One champion Ayrton Senna – stole most of the limelight, there was big news at the other end of the Sea-Doo showroom.

All models in the 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Sea-Doo Spark series gain a new, larger capacity 999cc three-cylinder engine (up from 899cc) called the 1000 ACE.

Across seven model variants there is a choice of three power outputs: 60hp, 90hp and 110hp.

Sea-Doo says the engine internals are identical in all three configurations of the 1000 ACE, but the rev limit is tuned to limit horsepower of the 60hp and 90hp variants.

While the 110hp version has a maximum 8500rpm (up from 8000rpm previously), the 90hp variant is capped at 7500rpm and the 60hp variant taps out just below 7000rpm.

The original Sea-Doo Spark engine – called the 900 ACE with an 899 cubic capacity – produced 100hp per litre.

Sea-Doo says the new 1000 ACE – with a 999 cubic capacity – produces an impressive 110hp per litre.

In addition to the larger displacement, the 1000 ACE engine has a new air intake manifold, new exhaust manifold, and an integrated oil spray nozzle for advanced piston cooling and lubrication.

The engine’s compression ratio has increased from 11.0:1 to 12.5:1.

The hull has been completely redesigned for better stability in rough water, though it marries up with the new top deck introduced in 2023.

All models in the 2027 Sea-Doo Spark series also have a new jet pump, new stator, new ride plate, and new intake grate.

Sea-Doo says all the changes combine to deliver a higher claimed top speed of 55mph (88km/h) compared to 48mph (77km/h) previously – though the company says it has seen 57mph (92km/h) in testing in ideal conditions and with a light rider.

Sea-Doo’s ‘Intelligent Debris-Free’ (IDF) reverse thrust debris removal system is now standard on the Spark Trixx X and Spark X models.

Despite the major overhaul, the 2027 Sea-Doo Spark line-up will maintain the same attractive starting price as last year, though prices have risen on the premium models.

Plus Sea-Doo has added a new luxury model to top-out the Spark range, to go head-to-head with the Yamaha JetBlaster Limited.

The Sea-Doo Spark Convenience model (pictured above) is available with a 90hp output in the US and other overseas markets, but in Australia it will be equipped with the 110hp engine and wear the Spark X badge.

The Convenience model comes standard with a bow storage compartment, rear boarding step, variable trim system and, in Australia, will come with IDF as it is a Spark X model Down Under.

The 2027 Sea-Doo Spark line-up in Australia is as follows (prices exclude trailer and registration):

  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark 60hp two-seater (Sunrise Orange): $9999
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark 90hp three-seater (Sunrise Orange): $14,299
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx X 110hp one-seater (Gulfstream Blue): $15,599
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx X 110hp three-seater (Gulfstream Blue): $16,599
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx X 110hp one-seater with sound system (Scandi Blue): $16,699
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx X 110hp three-seater with sound system (Scandi Blue): $17,699
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark X Convenience 110hp three-seater with sound system (Scandi Blue): $18,199

Sea-Doo’s new 1000 ACE engine – in 110hp guise – level pegs the Yamaha JetBlaster Pro output of 110hp (from Yamaha’s TR-1 1050cc three-cylinder engine).

However the Sea-Doo Spark has the advantage of being approximately 40kg lighter than the new-generation Yamaha JetBlaster on like-for-like models.

Here’s the listed dry weight of the 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx series versus the 2026 Yamaha JetBlaster Pro – the rival models which can ride on their tail at the press of a button.

  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx X 110hp one-seater: 201kg (205kg with audio)
  • 2027 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx X 110hp three-seater: 210kg (214kg with audio)
  • 2026 Yamaha JetBlaster Pro 110hp two-seater: 244kg
  • 2026 Yamaha JetBlaster Pro 110hp three-seater 247kg

The new model-year Sea-Doos are due in Australian showrooms either late this year or early next year – in the peak of the summer holiday season – pending any unforeseen delays.
