2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish unveiled, now a dedicated model for Australia

The Yamaha FX HO JetFish is now a permanent part of the WaveRunner line-up in Australia, as the 2025 model gets special treatment at the US factory before final assembly at the dealer.

The 2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish has been unveiled in Australia, as Yamaha tries to reel-in the segment-leading Sea-Doo Fish Pro series.

It is Yamaha’s third take on the Jet Ski fishing theme in three years, after two limited editions in 2023 and 2024.

However, for 2025 the Yamaha FX HO JetFish – powered by Yamaha’s new 1.9-litre four-cylinder non-supercharged engine – is now a permanent part of the Yamaha WaveRunner line-up locally and a dedicated model in its own right.

The first two iterations of the Yamaha FX HO JetFish were based on existing FX HO models and the decals and fishing accessories were fitted locally by selected dealers.

The 2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish comes from the factory with a unique colour scheme for this model, and with the JetFish decals already applied.

Plus it is now available at more – but not all – Yamaha WaveRunner showrooms in Australia.

The 2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish is finished in the same all-blue colour scheme as the 2024 Yamaha FX SVHO Cruiser, but is equipped with the flatter seat design from the non Cruiser model.

Once the craft arrives at dealerships for final assembly, accessories such as the rear deck extension, cooler box frame, 45-litre cooler box, four rod holders, Garmin touchscreen navigation unit, depth finder and fish finder are fitted before customer delivery.

Yamaha’s turn-key solution for Jet Ski fishing is designed to compete with the Sea-Doo Fish Pro series (which has now expanded to four models) and the upcoming Kawasaki Ultra 160 Angler.

One conspicuous omission on the 2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish: the audio speakers have been deleted, presumably to keep the cost down.

As numerous Jet Ski fishing enthusiasts have noted, they often listen to music or podcasts – connected to the craft’s audio speakers via Bluetooth – while waiting for the fish to bite.

The first two Yamaha FX HO JetFish editions (in 2023 and 2024) were both equipped with audio speakers but Yamaha Australia has elected to not include them on the 2025 model.

In Australia, the 2025 Yamaha FX HO Jet Fish edition is priced from $29,999 ski only (excluding trailer and registration).

This compares to $26,899 for the 2025 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Sport and $30,599 for the Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy (pictured below), which are the two closest rivals to the Yamaha FX HO JetFish.

The price of the upcoming Kawasaki Ultra 160 Angler (pictured below) is yet to be announced in Australia; in the US it sells for the equivalent cost of $27,500 in Australian currency.

Here is how the 2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish price compares to other Yamaha FX HO models in Australia (ski only, excluding trailer and registration).

Model  2023  2024  2025
Yamaha FX HO  $24,599 (1.8)  $27,399 (1.9)  $27,399 (1.9)
Yamaha FX HO Cruiser  $25,499 (1.8)  $28,299 (1.9)  $28,299 (1.9)
Yamaha FX HO JetFish  $27,899 (1.8)  $30,899 (1.9)  $29,999 (1.9)

It is unclear if the 2025 Yamaha FX HO JetFish will be offered in North America as a package deal as it is in Australia, or whether Yamaha USA will continue to simply offer JetFish equipment as individual accessories.

The Jet Ski fishing market has made waves in Australia over the past five years.

Before Sea-Doo released the dedicated Fish Pro watercraft in September 2018, most Jet Ski fishing enthusiasts in Australia used to kit-out Yamaha FX models with home-made set-ups.

However, most Jet Ski fishing enthusiasts who started out on Yamahas have since switched to the Sea-Doo Fish Pro as a turn-key solution.
