Kawasaki Jet Skis hit with new price rises in Australia

Kawasaki Jet Skis in Australia have been subject to two price rises in less than a year, and one model now eclipses the $30,000 barrier for the first time.

The prices of Kawasaki Jet Skis in Australia have risen twice in less than a year, according to the most recent data shared by the company.

Every model in the 2023 Kawasaki Jet Ski range has been hit with price rises ranging from $219 to $1949 – depending on the model – and the top-of-the-range now eclipses the $30,000 barrier for the first time.

It means all three major personal watercraft companies sold in Australia – Sea-Doo, Yamaha WaveRunner and Kawasaki Jet Ski – have models that cost more than $30,000 in their showrooms, even before trailer and registration fees are added.

The smallest price rise in the Kawasaki Jet Ski line-up – $249 – applies to the SX-R ‘stand-up’ craft which remains largely unchanged from previous model-years.

In early 2022, the Kawasaki SX-R cost from $14,959. According to the most recent price list issued by the company, the Kawasaki SX-R is now $15,178 excluding registration.

The entry level, three-seater ‘sit-down’ Kawasaki STX 160X and 160LX have been hit by the biggest cost increases, rising by between $1749 and $1949 in less than 12 months – and are now priced from $17,048 and $19,248 not including trailer and registration.

The increased prices also exclude Kawasaki’s arbitrary dealer delivery fee of $1399 (up from $1299 previously).

No other personal watercraft manufacturer in Australia charges this fee, which is an extra layer of profit in addition to what is already baked into the RRP of each Kawasaki Jet Ski.

The flagship Kawasaki Ultra 310 supercharged range was hit with price rises of at least $4500 when the new-generation arrived in 2022, but the increases have kept on coming since then.

The new-generation Kawasaki Ultra 310 series launched in early 2022 at $26,099 for the 310X, $27,499 for the 310LX-S, and $28,899 for the 310LX – not including trailer and registration.

Since then, the Kawasaki Ultra 310 supercharged range has been hit with two price rises in less than 12 months, which amount to increases of $1349 all told.

Kawasaki dealers canvassed by Watercraft Zone say Australian winter discounts are unlikely given the relatively tight supply.

As reported previously, Sea-Doo and Yamaha WaveRunner already have offers in the market – Sea-Doo with an accessories package and Yamaha WaveRunner with a low interest rate finance deal – to help move stock at a quiet time of the year.

However, for now, Kawasaki Jet Ski is not only holding firm on prices, it is the most recent brand to announce increases.

The table below shows how the prices of Kawasaki Jet Skis have changed since early 2022. Prices exclude registration, trailer and arbitrary Kawasaki dealer charges.

While care has been taken to avoid errors, please check with your local Kawasaki Jet Ski dealer for final pricing and any special offers.

Footnote: Kawasaki Australia is due to announce pricing for the 2023 Kawasaki Ultra 160 LX and LX-S closer to showroom arrivals later this year.

However, using US pricing as a guide, early estimates forecast RRPs between $24,000 and $26,000 – a staggering increase of $8000, or 50 per cent dearer than the previous model.
