Sea-Doo opens new store in Cronulla in Sydney’s south

About a year after Sydney Sea-Doo closed down, a new showroom has opened to cover Cronulla and Sydney’s south.

Sea-Doo has finally filled an “open point” in one of the largest areas south of Sydney – about a year after Sydney Sea-Doo closed its doors following almost a decade of operation.

The newly-named Cronulla Sea-Doo and Can Am officially opened its doors in May 2019.

The brand-new showroom and workshop has main road frontage – on Taren Point Road, Taren Point – and is the former site of a smash repairing firm.

Although it is owner Peter Middleton’s first Sea-Doo showroom, the veteran of the industry has previously worked for BRP Sea-Doo’s NSW head office, Club Marine Insurance, and Hunts Marine in nearby Blakehurst.

Middleton is joined by long-standing Sea-Doo specialist Dean Jeffries, who previously worked for Sydney Sea-Doo.

Cronulla Sea-Doo and Can Am is partly owned by Beaches Sea-Doo and Can Am on Sydney’s northern beaches, however the two businesses are run separately.

Middleton was working for Beaches Sea-Doo in the two years prior to opening the Cronulla store.

“We are two separate businesses and every day we are trying to win deals off each other, although most of the time people tend to buy from the showroom that’s closest to them,” said Middleton.

“There are rare situations where we might help each other out with stock if one of us has run out, but that’s no different to swapping stock with another rival dealer.”

Middleton says the southern Sydney area was overdue for Sea-Doo representation. “It’s one of the biggest areas in metropolitan Sydney where watercraft riders can easily access the water. There are a lot of existing customers here and plenty who are new to the sport.”
