Yamaha launches accessories to reel-in Sea-Doo Fish Pro

Yamaha has taken a step closer to creating an alternative to the hugely successful Sea-Doo Fish Pro, with a range of accessories – including an extended rear deck – that transforms the current-generation FX into a fishing Jet Ski.

The 2022 Yamaha FX will soon be available with a rear deck extension – called RecDeck – and other accessories that will enable fishing enthusiasts to create their own rival to the hugely popular Sea-Doo Fish Pro.

While Yamaha has stopped short of introducing a factory-built “turn-key” rival to the Sea-Doo Fish Pro – which has three models coming in 2022 – it has designed and engineered all the ingredients for customers to build their own.

The new accessory range for the 2022 Yamaha FX was unveiled in the US overnight (18 August 2021), but is yet to be confirmed for Australia.

The cooler box (pictured above and below) has adopted the Jet Fish name and branding developed by Yamaha Australia two years ago.

While Yamaha Australia is yet to announce any timing, pricing, or plans for the new additions to the parts catalogue, Watercraft Zone understands the deck extension is on the “wish list” locally given the popularity of the Yamaha FX as a fishing platform.

The new deck extension, which is an extra cost option, can be fitted to any current generation Yamaha FX introduced from late 2018 onwards, and provides the basis of a rival to the Sea-Doo Fish Pro.

The recreational deck fits neatly and securely onto the rear of the craft, and enables the fitment of accessories such as a cooler box, storage bags, rod holders, a chair, and a rear boarding ladder.

Over time, the list of optional extras is expected to grow.

The flexibility of the platform enables new accessories to be developed and added to the Yamaha parts catalogue.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Yamaha FX series has undergone significant upgrades to the hull – as well as a raft of new technology – surprising many in the industry with the long list of changes.
