2023 Yamaha WaveRunner prices and model changes

The 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner series has been unveiled ahead of Australian showroom arrivals early next year. As with Sea-Doo and Kawasaki Jet Ski, prices have risen – but unlike its rivals, most colours have changed.

The 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner series has received sweeping colour and trim changes – but no technical upgrades following a significant overhaul to the line-up last year.

As with Sea-Doo and Kawasaki Jet Ski – which in the past few weeks both announced price rises for 2023 due to increases in the cost of production and shipping – next year’s Yamaha WaveRunners will go up by between $700 and $2800.

For the first time, there are now two Yamaha WaveRunner models in Australia that eclipse the $30,000 mark (excluding trailer and registration).

That means all three personal watercraft brands – Sea-Doo, Kawasaki Jet and Yamaha WaveRunner – now have multiple models that cost in excess of $30,000.

The biggest price rise in the Yamaha line-up applies to the flagship performance model, the Yamaha GP1800R SVHO – available in two new colour schemes for 2023 – which now costs from $27,899 excluding trailer and registration.

The smallest price rise applies to the entry-level Yamaha WaveRunner EX, which now costs from $9499 excluding trailer and registration.

Prices for the full-size Yamaha WaveRunner FX series have increased by between $1900 and $2400, depending on the model.

While Sea-Doo and Kawasaki carried over most of their 2022 colour schemes into 2023, Yamaha WaveRunner has introduced annual colour and trim changes on all but two models – despite recent production constraints.

The head of Yamaha WaveRunner in Australia, Marty Kypr, told Watercraft Zone the company is “cautiously optimistic” the 2023 line-up could arrive in local showrooms in the first few months of next year. The 2022 models did not arrive until the second half of this year.

Customarily, Yamaha Australia would receive its first shipments of next year’s stock in November or December, just in time for summer.

But ongoing production interruptions and shipping bottlenecks mean the 2023 arrivals will likely be pushed to early next year.

“We are always working hard to get stock into showrooms as soon as we can, but unfortunately there are forces outside of our control,” Mr Kypr told Watercraft Zone.

“We are doing everything in our power to get customers onto their new WaveRunners as soon as possible. Unfortunately shipping arrival times are very fluid at the moment, but we are seeing signs of improvement.”

The Yamaha Australia executive advised customers to stay in contact with their dealer, however it was worth noting some shipping delays are unexpected and unavoidable.

In addition to fresh colours across almost every model, the full-size Yamaha Waverunner FX series now comes with pre-drilled holes on the rear deck to more easily accomodate the company’s new-for-2022 range of RecDeck accessories such as a cooler box or fishing seat.

Some of Yamaha’s RecDeck accessory range made it to Australia in limited numbers in July 2022, but the company is hopeful it can secure sufficient supplies for 2023.

The 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner FX series carries over the significant upgrades introduced in 2022 – such as new heavy-duty hull, repositioned sponsons, new ride plates (one for the FX and another for the FX SVHO), factory-fitted speakers, console charging ports, a new touchscreen with Bluetooth phone connection, and the option of embedded navigation.

The 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner JetBlaster – which can ride on its tail at the push of a button, and was introduced as a new model last year – swaps its blue and yellow colour scheme for black and green.

Meantime, the 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner GP1800R SVHO model is for the second year in a row available in two fresh colour schemes in Australia: blue-on-blue or black and green.

The 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner FX HO Cruiser adopts last year’s GP1800R SVHO blue paintwork, while the 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner FX HO goes back to its traditional Yamaha blue-and-white roots.

The 2023 prices for the Yamaha RecDeck accessory range in Australia are yet to be announced.

However using US pricing as a guide, the platform is expected to cost between $900 and $1500, depending on the add-on extras such as the cooler box or seat.

All prices listed below are in Australian dollars including GST – but excluding trailer and registration, which typically add between $2500 and $3000 to the RRP, depending on trailer type and registration fees in each state.
