Sea-Doo JSW Powersports wins Gold Coast business award

The biggest Sea-Doo dealer in Australia – and the world – has been recognised in the November 2020 Gold Coast business awards.

Australia’s biggest Jet Ski and personal watercraft dealer – Sea-Doo’s JSW Powersports – has become a finalist in the 2020 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

JSW is the largest personal watercraft dealer in Australia, and says it has been the top-selling Sea-Doo dealer in the world for the past nine years.

While most Jet Ski and personal watercraft dealers in Australia sell between 200 and 500 machines annually, in recent years JSW Powersports has delivered more than 1000 new skis annually from its Gold Coast showroom.

The owner of JSW Powersports, Jeff McNiven, started the business in 1998 as workshop specialising in Jet Skis and personal watercraft. More than 20 years on, JSW now employs more than 40 staff.

Following a category business award in November 2020, Sea-Doo’s JSW Powersports became one of 50 Gold Coast business competing for the title of the Gold Coast’s Business of the Year for 2020.

“This year has been incredibly difficult for the business community because of the impacts of COVID-19,” said Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president, Ian Cousins.

“Having said that, the quality of the entrants in this year’s awards have been incredible and it is just amazing to hear about some of the success stories and the ways that businesses have adapted to the difficult conditions.”

As with most personal watercraft dealers across Australia, Sea-Doo’s JSW Powersports is among those struggling to balance demand with stock shortages.

Most dealers in Australia who sell Sea-Doo, Yamaha and Kawasaki Jet Skis and personal watercraft are scrambling for more stock, and many now have orders pushed into 2021.

Customarily, summer is the season to clear old stock at discounted prices and introduce new model-year watercraft.

However, most Jet Ski and personal watercraft showrooms over the 2020/2021 holiday period have been left empty – or close to it – as new stock is sold as fast as staff unbox them.
