The 2023 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy edition will finally be available with the modular pop-up swivel seat in Australia.
And it will come as standard equipment locally, rather than as an extra-cost option.
The adjustable elevated seat – not available as a factory-fitted item on any other Jet Ski or personal watercraft to date – was unveiled on the flagship Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy edition in late 2021 for the 2022 model-year.
However, availability of the pop-up swivel seat was initially restricted to the North American market.
Customers in Australia and other regions initially missed out on the option.
Its absence even prompted a creative Australian-made solution – an aftermarket seat post developed locally.
The original 2022 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy sold in international markets – including Australia – was still equipped the twin battery set-up, live-bait well, larger touchscreen navigation unit, debris-removal technology, and the bold silver and orange colour scheme.
Watercraft Zone previously speculated the decision to not make the pop-up swivel seat available in Australia and other international markets could have been based on production restrictions – or legal requirements.
For rider safety, when the swivel seat is elevated, the craft is designed to only be operated at idle speeds due to an electronic lock-out. Some in the industry feared there could have been legal implications.
However, as it turns out, Sea-Doo’s corporate head office simply underestimated the huge customer demand for the pop-up swivel seat.
Sea-Doo representatives this week told a global dealer event in Salt Lake City, Utah, they did not expect the modular seat to attract so much interest from potential buyers.
Which is why the 2023 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy is now finally available with the pop-up swivel seat in international markets.
The standard inclusion of the modular elevated seat in Australia – as well as a compact ‘claw’ anchor and holder – explains why the 2023 Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy has received the biggest price rise across next year’s revised model line-up.
The Australian price of the Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy has increased from $27,309 to $30,054 for the 2023 model-year (an increase of $2745), not including trailer and registration.
Arrival timing in Australia is yet to be confirmed, however Watercraft Zone has been told production of 2023 models has already started and the first examples are due in local showrooms by the the end of this year, pending any shipping delays.
Customers who want a Sea-Doo Fish Pro Trophy – but don’t want the pop-up swivel seat – may still be able to secure a 2022 model at today’s prices, saving $2745 in the process.
However Sea-Doo dealers in Australia canvassed by Watercraft Zone say remaining 2022 stock is limited.
Meantime, it is worth noting Sea-Doo does not offer the pop-up swivel seat as a dealer-fit option on older Fish Pro models. For now, it is only available as a factory-fitted item from new.
Owners of older Sea-Doo Fish Pro models who want an elevated seat have this Australian-made aftermarket option.
