Sea-Doo dealers in Australia have been given the green light to begin deliveries of 2021 versions of the Fish Pro and GTX Limited equipped with the optional IDF debris removal system.
Approximately two dozen examples of the 2021 Sea-Doo Fish Pro IDF and about two dozen examples of the 2021 Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 IDF were issued with a “stop delivery” notice in early 2021 after routine checks by the factory found some IDF systems got caught between forward and reverse gears.
As reported earlier, the 2021 Sea-Doo Fish Pro and 2021 Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 are available with an optional IDF system (Intelligent Debris-Free technology) which engages reverse thrust to “quickly and effectively clear debris from the water pump intake with a touch of a button”.
However, some early examples sold overseas became stuck between forward and reverse gears and Sea-Doo temporarily held back deliveries of those models in all markets – including Australia – while further checks were done.
Dealers were also advised to conduct further pre-delivery inspections of affected models.
“Stop sale” or “stop delivery” notices in most cases are not the same as a safety recall.
Such notices are commonly used – especially in the car industry – when issues are identified during the manufacturing start-up process.
Any owners of 2021 Sea-Doo Fish Pro IDF or 2021 Sea-Doo GTX Limited 300 IDF models who experience any issues with their watercraft are advised to contact their local dealer.
