2023 Sea-Doos unveiled tomorrow, 2023 Yamaha WaveRunners later this month

August is new model-year season for Jet Skis and personal watercraft. First up is the 2023 Sea-Doo range, followed by the 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner series in a fortnight.

The 2023 editions of Sea-Doo personal watercraft and Yamaha WaveRunners are due to be unveiled this month ahead of showroom arrivals next year.

The 2023 Sea-Doo range is due to be shown at a global dealer event in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 7 August 2023 US time (8 August 2022 Australian time).

The 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner line-up is due to be unveiled later this month, though exact dates are yet to be announced.

According to a report by The Watercraft Journal – the world’s biggest Jet Ski website – Sea-Doo will launch a revamped performance range with a focus on the ‘X’ badge.

The blacked-out Sea-Doo RXP-X300 teased by Australian Formula One ace Daniel Ricciardo (pictured above) ahead of this year’s Miami F1 Grand Prix is believed to be a pointer to a new flagship performance model.

However, for now it remains unclear if showroom versions will get the carbon-fibre accents and raised lettering shown in the Daniel Ricciardo video.

Kevin Shaw, the editor-in-chief of The Watercraft Journal, reported on his YouTube channel last week “there’s something to that,” referring to the Daniel Ricciardo ski.

“My understanding is … that you’re probably going to see an upgrade in handling and traction components (such as) steering, intake grate, sponsons,” said Shaw.

“And that is going to be marketed as a new Sea-Doo ‘X’ series (such as) RXP-X, RXT-X, and possibly a GTR-X.”

Meantime, little is known about the 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner series, which is believed to be unveiled in a fortnight or so.

However, there is widespread speculation 2023 changes do not extend beyond colour and trim after Yamaha introduced major updates to the FX HO and FX SVHO last year, as well as a new Jet Blaster model.

As reported last week, the 2023 Kawasaki Jet Ski line-up is not due to receive any colour and trim changes.

Although the 2023 Kawasaki Jet Ski range will continue with 2022 liveries for another year, price rises are expected due to the increased cost of production and shipping.

Sea-Doo and Yamaha WaveRunner have also foreshadowed price rises for 2023 model-year watercraft.
